September 11, 2001- a day that no American will ever forget.  On this day, two airplanes were hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center, located in Manhattan, New York.  Two years later, President George W. Bush decided to declare war on Iraq.  Since then, we have had success in capturing Iraq’s supreme leader and in capturing some well known terrorists, as well as some that were not recognized by people.  Still, many soldiers have gone to Iraq to fight for the U.S and to help the people in Iraq overcome the horror and damage caused by their ruler.  Most of the U.S soldiers that were sent to Iraq are from the ages of eighteen to nineteen years old, although there are other soldiers sent who have fought in other wars, or are of older age.  My topic is about what it would be like to be a U.S soldier fighting in the Iraq War.  We have all watched the news and seen some video clips of what the war might be like, but not too many of us think about the specifics of the war and the things the news did not mention while broadcasting footage and stories of the war.

The soldiers are living in deserts and other areas with almost no life around them.  They constantly battle the high temperatures, and have some pretty bad situations presented to them on a daily basis.  Soldiers should be respected and honored more, because of all the things they go through in their daily lives while at war in Iraq.  Examples and documents are given to prove the fact that they go through many situations we never will experience.  Some of these examples include: poems, pictures, advertisements, a diary of a man who is at war and away from his wife and child.  Other documents are included that show the things they have to deal with as soldiers in Iraq.
